The early hours of the 1st were particularly windy with several mature trees in the area toppled over by the squally wind. On the 1st,  at Shoreham Airport, many southwesterly gusts exceeded 40 knots (46 mph) with a peak gust of 59 knots (67 mph) occurring in the early hours.  The 2nd was also windy with 40 knots (46 mph) from the southwest recorded in the early evening.  A gust of 38 knots (43 mph) occurred early on the 3rd before the wind finally decreased later in the morning. On the 15th, another deep depression to the west was responsible for some strong south to southwesterly winds which peaked at 41 knots (47 mph) during the early evening. It was particularly blustery at times and a gust of 44 knots (50 mph) occurred early on the 16th. Overnight on the 17th, a gust of 38 knots (43 mph) occurred before a quieter spell of weather began. This lasted until the 21st when a deepening depression crossed southern England and produced squally winds, initially from the southeast, these veering to the west.
